Lions and Tigers and Panda Bears!!!

holy cow guys, Its been a long time since the Jonbear Fourtet got together to make some sweet music. But last night we got together and rocked the house! Jon B's house to be specific. Jon has spent the past year building a fantastic home studio and last night we got to try it out at practice. 

MIcrophone cables covered the ground like the thick vine of the rain forrest and the music was hot and thick. Tribal rhythms and rumbling bass were accompanied by the singing birds of the horn section. And directing the whole wild ruckus was the Bear himself, Jon B.

So here is a treat for all of you, it's a live recording we did of one of our live show favorites "Panda Bear." This song has become one of our favorites to play and one of your favorites to dance to, though it wasn't on our first album.

Hey Everyone! This is our last day in Austin and it's been a great trip. Big John has been a great. We're playing at the Saxon Pub this afternoon at 3pm, so come check it out if you're in the area.

So the photo i've posted is of a quarter that my sister gave me that had been flattened by a train in Norman, OK. I thought it was a great gift and liked it so much that I took it down to the Wild Hare Beadery and Reese helped me make it into a necklace. So big thanks to my sister Sarah, and to Reese for my new trinket.

we played on 6th street today! and it what awesome! we played at Beale st. Tavern and had lunch at their sister restaurant "Bikini's." We all had a great time and we'll be at Saxon Pub tomorrow at 3 pm.

Hey everyone! CJ and I just rolled into Taylor Texas after driving through Ft. Worth and Waco. We listened to some good tunes (we discovered the Raconteurs on my ipod), ate some beef jerky and enjoyed the countryside. now we're hanging out at Mimosa having a few beers (This is a very cool restaurant/bar. I would definitely recommend it if you ever come down to Taylor). 

We'll be playing at the Armadillo Hall tonight at 9pm with special guest Jennifer B.

 

Hey everyone! I'll be traveling to Austin, Texas this weekend to play a couple of shows with CJ Greco. We've been working up the original material with a trio set-up and it's sounding awesome! If you're in the Austin area you should come check out some of the shows. I'll be updating with posts from the road so check back often.

Hey Everyone! I have a big announcement today! My jazz project, the Off Boyd Jazz Band, will be playing at the Norman Music Festival this year. We will be playing at the Sonder Music Stage at 5p.m. on Saturday April 24th. Other great acts that are sharing that stage with us are the Ivan Peña Trio and Circe. Hey Everyone! I have a spiffy new business card that was designed by the talented and handsome Seth Capshaw. Seth is the owner and Head designer for Pagoda T-shirts, a new company that will be up and printing very soon so check it out!

In other news my new band, An Old Timepiece, played our first show last friday at the College House in Norman. That night we played with the Off Boyd Jazz Band and Penny Hill (who is releasing her first album at the Speakeasy on March 12th). It was a truly great night and I have been informed that the College House will be hosting Denton's Snarky Puppy on March 12th. So you have two amazing shows going on that night, not to mention I'll be playing with the Off Boyd Jazz kids earlier in the same night!

Its an exciting time to be alive!
